'Garden of Eden' Found in the Jungle
In a jungle so remote and mountainous that the only way in is by helicopter, scientists have found what they're calling a "lost world." This secluded Indonesian mountain jungle is part of the cloud-shrouded Foja mountains in the west of New Guinea and is home to dozens of exotic, never-before-seen species of birds, butterflies, frogs and plants. "It's as close to the Garden of Eden as you're going to find on Earth," marveled Bruce Beehler, co-leader of the American, Indonesian and Australian expedition of 11 scientists, in a news release announcing the discovery.
